Mr Park, the Shadow Minister for the Illawarra has said that years of campaigning for upgrades to the Bulli Hospital have now paid off, with construction having commenced on the 5th of October.

The Bulli Aged Care Centre of Excellence $50 million upgrade will be built by Richard Crooks Construction and is expected to be completed by 2019.

The new facility will contain:

  • 60 bed public aged care in-patient unit
  • Outpatient clinic
  • Urgent care centre
  • Parking for 46 vehicles

Mr Park has labelled the recent announcement that work has started on the Bulli Hospital upgrade, “a huge win for the community”, highlighting that it displays the great outcomes that people power can achieve.

Mr Park has agitated for work to begin on the site for many years, having submitted numerous questions on notice, and media releases with relation to the project, since 2011.

Quotes attributable to Member for Keira, Ryan Park MP

“I have been at the forefront of an ongoing movement to see Bulli Hospital turned into a Centre of Excellence. We had to drag the Liberals kicking and screaming for five years, but today, we have a positive outcome.

“After years of petitions, media releases and community meetings, it is great to see boots on the ground and work carried out.

“For five years, Bulli Hospital was forgotten about by the Liberal Government. They repeated announcements and shuffled papers. If it wasn’t for the good people of the Keira Electorate standing with me in this fight, I would worry that this great site would continue to be neglected.
