  • The June long weekend was one of tragedy for the people of the Illawarra. On Saturday night we heard the news of a boat capsized off the notorious reef known as Peggies, Bulli with an adult and young child missing.
  • The June long weekend was one of tragedy for the people of the Illawarra. On Saturday night we heard the news of a boat capsized off the notorious reef known as Peggies, Bulli with an adult and young child missing.

 

  • I want to thank all the volunteers from the Illawarra Surf Life Saving community who worked together with emergency services in search for the young 5 year old boy and 28 year old male companion.

 

  • 75 volunteers from 10 clubs within Illawarra Surf Life Saving community banded together in very difficult conditions working for 24 hours in an effort to locate the missing people.

 

  • Bulli surf life-saving club hosted the rescue headquarters providing much needed warmth, food, comfort and privacy to the to the distressed families.

 

  • Two people were successfully pulled from the ocean Saturday evening and taken to Wollongong hospital for treatment. However, it is with much sadness that two people lost their life and were recovered Sunday.

 

  • I would like to take this opportunity to thank the 75 volunteers within the Illawarra Surf Life Saving community. Thanks to the Emergency Rescue workers.  Thanks to Bulli Woolworths for donating breakfast and to Bulli Meat who kindly donated lunch.
