KEIRA SCHOOLS CONTINUE TO BE IGNORED BY LIBERALS

The state government has announced that they will spend $6 billion over the next four years building schools and upgrading existing ones. However not one single project is in the Keira electorate.

With public school enrolments set to surge by 21 per cent, the government says next Tuesday's state budget will deliver funding for 170 new or upgraded schools, creating an extra 2000 classrooms for almost 44,000 more students.

Schools located in the Keira electorate feature as some of the most in need of maintenance, yet not one single dollar from this multi-billion dollar announcement will be spend on fixing these schools.

There are 52* demountable classrooms are located in 16 schools across the Keira electorate and not a single one will be upgraded into a permanent classroom.

This announcement shows the Governments intent on ignoring the maintenance backlog in our local schools and failing to invest significantly in replacing demountable classrooms.

There are students who have spent most of their school years, learning in antiquated demountables. Let’s not forget that demountables are meant to be a temporary solution not a permanent fixture.

We needed this Government to stop it’s obsession with stadiums and focus on schools. Not one dollar in the Keira electorate shows they have their priorities all wrong.

Mum’s and dad’s across Keira have every right to be fed up with this Government who have again ignored their kids and their education.

Another budget and another kick in the guts for the Keira electorate. This Liberal Government loves nothing more than ignoring our area.
