PARK CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO MATCH LABOR’S FUNDING COMMITMENT ON DEER CONTROL

-->

Shadow Minister for the Illawarra Ryan Park, has called on the Berejiklian Government to urgently match NSW Labor’s election commitment to assist in the current crisis of the growing wild deer population in the Illawarra.

Last year Mr Park announced a commitment of $800,000 to address the rampant wild deer population by a future Labor Government.  Mr Park claims the problem is out of control and should be addressed by the recently elected Berejiklian Government.

The Government must commit to increase funding in the upcoming budget to ensure this issue gets addressed.

Quotes attributable to Member for Keira, Ryan Park:

“Feral deer create havoc in the Illawarra.  They damage property and the natural environment, cause collisions on the road and also on the train lines.  It is only a matter of time before there is a serious collision on our roads.”

“The problem of wild deer must be addressed in the Illawarra and more broadly in NSW and to do that will require a significant increase in funding”

“I am calling on the Government to match the funding Labor committed during the campaign and to ensure this growing problem is addressed.
