First step in funding for Mt Keira

Mt Keira has long been talked about needing revitalising and now I have been able to secure the first funding boost that will enhance the already picturesque Mt Keira Scout Camp facility.

I am very pleased to be able to secure these vital funds to allow the Mt Keira Scout Camp to be able to fully renovate one of their buildings that will ensure it can continue to be a terrific tourist destination and of course a first class facility for local and state wide Scouting groups to use.

While the road was closed the Scouts suffered a significant downturn in income so this funding is important to help them get back on track and upgrade their facility.

Scouts are a terrific organisation, which relies on dedicated volunteers to operate. They have worked hard to keep the Camp viable and this is a very important step towards improving the overall use of the mountain.

I am also calling for better signage including for the Mt Keira Scout Camp to make it easier for visitors to get to the Camp.

I remain committed to working with Wollongong City Council and the NSW Government to look at ways that both public and private investment can expand the tourist opportunities of this very special place in our region.
