Commuters suffered excruciating delayed train services again last night in the heat and humidity, waiting for trains that were jammed like sardines.
At many Sydney stations commuters couldn’t even make it onto the platforms due to the high number of stranded passengers.
The Premier and Minister for Transport have been nowhere to be seen. Failing to even apologise to the commuters they have monumentally failed.
It seems impossible that the Premier would be so determined to spend $2.5 billion of taxpayer’s money on two stadiums, one just 17 years old – while thousands of people are struggling to get home.
Premier Berejiklian has all the wrong priorities and needs to redirect funds away from stadiums to fixing this broken system.
Quotes attributable to Shadow Treasurer Ryan Park:
“Yesterday we saw the train service was chaotic at best. There have been extensive cancellations and long delays.
‘Many people have returned to work this week and it has been shambolic. They have paid for a service that they simply haven’t received. They have every right to be angry.
“This Government dares to spend $2.5billion on stadiums when they have this mess on their hands. It is wrong. The Premier is wrong and she needs to face up to the fact that her Government has all the wrong priorities.
“It is not good enough for the people of the Illawarra to have to put up with long delays and overcrowded trains while the Government wastes their money on stadiums.
