I am urging Keira residents to nominate local seniors who give their time freely and make contributions to the community. This is an opportunity for their efforts to be acknowledged.
Our local community simply wouldn’t be the same without the hard-work and commitment of seniors. These volunteers make vital contributions and it is time for their work to be recognised.
There are so many seniors out in the region that simply go about their day helping others and expect nothing in return. These are the people I want to see recognised.
You don’t need to search too hard to find local legends doing great things that others take for granted will just get done.
These awards allow the community to show their appreciation for a local who has been generous in giving their time on a voluntary basis. Community organisations could also be nominated.
Last year I was very pleased to be able to present awards to a number of local residents and was very pleased to be able to recognise the Illawarra Cancer Carers group.
Whether it is selling raffle tickets for a local charity, organising local events or simply being there for a chat when no one else will listen, these seniors need to be recognised.
Nominations will close on February 6. Nomination forms are available from Mr Park’s office at 247 Princes Highway Corrimal or by phoning his office on 4285 1588.
