Member for Keira, Ryan Park is calling on the Berejiklian Government to review traffic light phasing in the Illawarra’s Northern Suburbs.

Mr Park, the Shadow Minister for the Illawarra is calling on Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight, the Hon. Melinda Pavey MP to launch an extensive study into the traffic light phasing along the Princes Hwy in Bulli, and Lawrence Hargrave Drive in Thirroul, in order to ascertain the root cause of persistent traffic congestion at the northern end of his electorate.

Mr Park has written to Minister Pavey, calling on her to conduct a review of traffic light phasing, and subsequently release its findings. Mr Park has explained that the aim of this is to try and redress the root causes of constant gridlock in the Northern Suburbs.

Constituents of Mr Park’s have frequently reported to him the deterioration in traffic conditions in Thirroul and Bulli.

Mr Park is looking for answers before the upcoming second closure of Bulli Pass in two years. Last year’s closure of the Pass saw crippling traffic congestion through the Northern Suburbs.

Quotes attributable to Shadow Minister for Illawarra Ryan Park:

“What we have, is a situation whereby the Northern Suburbs are in constant gridlock. This is bad for productivity, bad for commuters, bad for amenity, and bad for the environment.

“I am frequently contacted by constituents who are fed up with the persistent congestion. That is why I am calling on the Government to identify the root cause of the problem.

“I have written to Minister Pavey asking her to come to the table by conducting and releasing a study on traffic light phasing in the Northern Suburbs.

“A traffic light study will provide a good chance at uncovering the root causes of the appalling congestion battled by Northern Suburbs motorists each and every day.
